DKD Names Daniel Schwind (GTM) an Honorary Member

During the regular DKD Technical Committee meeting held in June 2026 in Oberaula, our dear colleague Daniel Schwind, Head of the Metrology Division, was named an honorary member of the German Calibration Service (DKD).

Since 2006, Daniel Schwind has shaped DKD Technical Committee 03 “Force, Acceleration & Acoustics” as its long-standing chair. In this role, he set the agenda on topics “at the cutting edge,” drove the development of new guidelines, initiated working groups, and oversaw numerous technical papers and interlaboratory comparisons. He also provided early and sustained support for forward-looking developments such as the Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC).

“Daniel Schwind always kept the topics for Technical Committee meetings ‘at the cutting edge,’ drove the development of new guidelines with great energy, initiated the formation of new working groups, and organized countless technical papers and interlaboratory comparisons—and helped developing the DCCs early on.” — Siegfried Gerber, long-time vice chair of FA 03 and chair of the Technical Committee on Materials Testing Machines.

The award recognizes not only personal expertise and long-standing leadership but also the understanding of metrology as a collective effort. In this spirit, Daniel Schwind emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge transfer in his statement:

“I feel honoured to receive this recognition—it also belongs to the many colleagues who have worked together over the years with great professionalism, openness, and passion. When we further develop standards, standardize procedures, and pragmatically implement digitalization—for example, with DCCs—we build trust in measurement results. This is precisely the foundation for precision in research, industry, and testing.”

— Daniel Schwind, Head of Metrology, GTM

Daniel Schwind’s honorary membership underscores the role that dedicated individuals play in the further development of calibration and measurement technology—and it symbolizes what GTM stands for as a company: technical excellence, reliability, and the shared goal of making measurements comparable and trustworthy worldwide.
