When Precision Meets Pioneering Spirit: GTM and Elara Aerospace Form a Partnership for the Future of Aerospace

Precision meets ambition.

GTM Testing and Metrology GmbH is the new technology partner of Elara Aerospace, an academic-led initiative at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Together, the two partners are pursuing a goal that no student team has yet achieved: building a liquid-fueled MethaLOX rocket that will be the first rocket developed entirely by students to reach space beyond the Kármán line.

Research Meets Precision

Elara Aerospace is considered one of Europe’s most ambitious student projects in the field of aerospace engineering. The team brings together students from a wide variety of disciplines with the goal of developing a reusable rocket capable of reaching an altitude of more than 100 kilometers and carrying up to 100 kilograms of scientific payload. In addition to achieving a record altitude, the project focuses on creating a platform for future research missions - and providing young engineers with hands-on experience in high-tech systems.

GTM Technology for Demanding Test Setups

To precisely measure mechanical stresses during development, GTM is providing Elara Aerospace with a force measurement chain for rocket test stands. It is designed to enable the team to analyze realistic forces, load distributions, and structural behavior in detail during critical tests - a fundamental step in validating complex engine and component structures.
