First time for GTM! Last Wednesday, 13 runners took part in this year’s Darmstadt company run. They had to cover 5 km, with a clear focus on team spirit and the belief that “it’s the taking part that counts”.

Back at the start of the year, a group of colleagues at GTM had a New Year’s resolution for 2019: to come together and get involved in a sporting event. And so a motley crew of runners was born.

After meeting up each week to train, the running group was not entirely unprepared. Under ideal weather conditions, they lined up at the start with around 330 other teams from companies in and around Darmstadt, reaching the finishing line in a respectable position in the middle of the pack.

They then celebrated with well-earned refreshments for all at the after-run party.

Their team score – calculated by adding up the total times of the four fastest runners – was 1:46:47, placing GTM 151^st out of 502.

The team’s achievements were clear to see: they created a friendly crew represented by runners from right across GTM’s various departments, with sporting, motivated members ready to meet a new challenge this year, and a clear goal to meet as a team.

And we hope to repeat the success next year, with a GTM team once again setting off from the starting line.
