GTM wins ZwickRoell Operational Excellence Award 2024

First and foremost, our thanks go to the entire workforce, who have actively supported and driven forward our joint initiatives, projects and challenges in recent years. Only together with you has it been and will continue to be possible to keep GTM on the road to success.

The core idea of operational excellence is to continuously optimize the fundamental processes along the value chain. This includes making production efficient, establishing high quality standards, adapting to new challenges and keeping the customer in focus. Much of this has been on our minds at GTM in recent years - and with the ZwickRoell Operational Excellence Award 2024, we have now received top-class confirmation that we are on the right track.

To convince the jury, we presented the path from the first digital customer contact to ordering, order processing and production through to the delivery of a force transducer in a vivid way. A video, which was produced under the leadership of Martina Orasmaa from the Marketing & Communication department, visualizes the individual steps including the underlying processes.

The amazing thing: What takes interested customers just five clicks and one minute via the online configurator triggers a chain of actions for us, at the end of which the GTM force transducer is perfectly configured for the customer. The configurator alone, which we introduced in 2022, is unique in this form.

The video shows how our newly introduced Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) is interlinked with our ERP and production. You can see how quickly and efficiently production operates thanks to the Kanban method, for example. Digitalization is an important factor here, and transparency also plays a major role: the status of an order or the availability of the required components can be viewed at any time. This not only benefits the actual customer order, e.g. with an optimized delivery time for standard variants, but has also led to many other improvements at GTM, such as a significantly simpler annual inventory. Last but not least, the transparency of all these processes helps our employees to act independently.

We have found competent partners to support us on our journey towards operational excellence: the CIP at TU Darmstadt and, in particular, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Our thanks also go to him and his team!

The jury, consisting of Dr. Jan Stefan Roell, Roland Eisenlauer, Klaus Cierocki, Christine Dübler and Ping Bu Loke, was impressed by our coherent presentation and thus by the changes that we have initiated in recent months and years and implemented in record time - something that all of us at GTM can be proud of.

And what about the prize? The ZwickRoell Operational Excellence Award 2024 is accompanied by a cash prize of 5,000 euros! We will invest the prize money in a joint event - so it will benefit all our employees.
