Wind turbines of the future: GTM's RF force transducer series for increased requirements
The dimensions of wind turbines are constantly increasing and with them the challenges for test stand technology. GTM's RF series force transducers have been specially developed for the robust requirements of this industry. The standard models already cover a nominal force range from 25 kN to 10 MN and customer-specific adaptations even allow up to 11 MN.
With the focus on wind turbines, which are not only becoming more numerous but also larger, it is clear that immense forces are acting on the nacelle, mast and connected parts. The RF series from GTM offers the robustness and overload capacity required for such applications.
Test rigs for wind turbines must keep pace with the growing dimensions and increasing complexity. The HALT (Highly Accelerated Lifetime Testing) test rigs are an example of how GTM addresses the needs of the industry. These test rigs are used to test and validate the latest generation of offshore nacelles, for which the RF force transducer series is ideally suited.
Objectives such as increasing the efficiency of the gearbox and improving the strength of the nacelle, hub and mast are the focus of the HALT test rigs. Tests allow potential weak points to be identified at the development stage, which increases the reliability and service life of the systems and reduces downtimes.
With its RF series force transducers, GTM is helping to make wind turbines more efficient and more powerful.
