Association of accredited calibration service providers in Germany for the promotion of metrology through technical committees in which, among other things, guidelines are developed, information exchanged and intercomparisons organized. Until December 17, 2009, the DKD, in addition to creating, promoting and maintaining a metrological infrastructure, also fulfilled the function of accreditation body for calibration laboratories. This function has been transferred to the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) due to a regulation of the European Parliament. Since then, the DKD has continued to exist as an association under the auspices of the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB).
