The twentieth World Congress of the International Measurement Confederation IMEKO took place in Busan from 9th to 14th September 2012. With 3.7 million inhabitants, Busan is South Korea's second-largest city.

Around 550 scientists from all continents used the congress for a mutual exchange on current research work. Metrological subjects were discussed on every aspect of physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and nutrition in a total of 24 committees.

One highlight of the event was the visit to the Korean national institute KRISS in Daejeon. According to their own statistics, the Korean Research Institute of Standards and Sciences is among the world's leading national institutes and promotes its own standards by investing heavily in development. GTM sees it as a particular accolade that KRISS has produced the force measuring equipment very closely following the ideas and solutions developed by GTM.

GTM has been involved with scientific articles that reflect the current stage of technical developments at the IMEKO congresses for many years. Ulrich Kolwinski and Daniel Schwind presented the latest developments in Force Standard Machines with lever amplification and multicomponent measurement technology in three lectures followed by a discussion.

Links will then be set up on the website to the articles after they have been approved for publication.

The next IMEKO World Congress will take place from 30th August to 4th September 2015 in the Czech capital Prague in the direct vicinity to GTM Praha s.r.o. Participants can already look forward to an unforgettable congress in Europe's cultural metropolis.
